The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Washington Department of Health (WDOH) require that all community water systems provide their customers with an annual report on the quality of water they serve. This yearly report explains where the City of Palouse’s drinking water comes from, what it contains, and the sampling, testing, and treatment that are done to provide safe drinking water.

What is a Consumer Confidence Report?

A consumer confidence report is a brief annual water quality report for customers of community water systems. The primary purpose of the CCR is to summarize water quality data that your water system already collects. It will also include information on compliance, source water, and some required educational information. Most CCRs only need to be a few pages long. A CCR informs people about the source of their water and the steps taken by the water system to deliver safe drinking water to their homes. It also tells them about the presence of any contaminants in their drinking water and how these contaminants may impact their health. Reporting information about your water system and the quality of the water you provide to customers will help them make informed decisions about their drinking water. The report also presents an opportunity for water systems to inform customers about what it takes to deliver safe drinking water at the turn of the tap.
