The planning commission welcomes you to attend our meetings, which are always open to the public!  These are where we discuss, deliberate, and make recommendations to the city council regarding the future of our town.

We have regular meetings four times a year, on the first Wednesdays of February, May, August, and November.  In 2025, these will be:

  • Wednesday, February 5th, 2025 at 7pm – Palouse City Hall, 120 E Main Street
  • Wednesday, May 7th , 2025 at 7pm – Palouse City Hall, 120 E Main Street
  • Wednesday, August 6th, 2025 at 7pm – Palouse City Hall, 120 E Main Street
  • Wednesday, November 5th at 7pm – Palouse City Hall, 120 E Main Street

In addition, we often have special meetings or continued meetings – look for announcements on the city’s email listserv for these.  From time to time, we also conduct public hearings which are announced by email and in the Whitman County Gazette.  The meetings and hearings are almost always held at Palouse City Hall, 120 E Main Street.

The Palouse planning commission is established by the Municipal Code under 17.04.110 “Planning Commission” as a 7-position body, with members appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the city council.  The members must be current residents within the city limits.  Our duties are to “…investigate, review, and make recommendations to the city council on the creation, adoption, and/or revision of a comprehensive plan, and to investigate, make recommendations, and report to the city council on matters relating to land use planning and zoning which the council may from time to time submit…” (Palouse Municipal Code section 17.04.110 E. “Duties”)  We often have vacant positions; if you are interested in serving on the planning commission please contact city hall.

Thank you, and we hope to see you soon!
